Joe Brady is a Senior Sales Engineer in Dell's Data Protection Encryption group with over 25 years of experience in IT risk management and information security. He works consultatively with customers and prospects to help them evaluate an encryption solution for protecting their data on the end point. His professional experience includes helping customers manage application security risk at Veracode; advising customers on end point data encryption solutions at Credant Technology (now Dell); IT risk and portfolio management at Prosight (now Oracle); and, UNIX symmetric multiprocessor computing for high performance databases and parallel programming research at Sequent Computers (now IBM). Joe began programming and working with computers as a physics undergrad and developed early microprocessor based instrumentation at Cornell, where he received a M.S. degree in Applied and Engineering Physics.

The 2014 Po'oihe Cyber Security Exercise was a 3 day hands-on exercise designed to provide a controlled learning environment to support collaboration and education amongst all participants. The exercise helps to assess the depth of understanding and operational competency in managing the challenges inherent in protecting emergency information systems and network infrastructure.
This year's exercise scenario tested the ability of participants to react to a state-wide natural disaster. The island of Oahu is hit by a Category 4 hurricane. The main data centers such as Hawaiian Telcom, Time Warner Oceanic Cable, State of Hawai'i, Honolulu City and County sustain damage, or have been cutoff due to storm damage to their Internet connections. Governor Abercrombie has activated the Hawai'i National Guard to assist with the disaster relief efforts. Major General Darryll Wong, the State of Hawai'i Adjutant General, has ordered the Hawai'i National Guard members with technical, network, and computer skills to assist in bringing up an emergency network to support the recovery efforts on the island of Oahu.
Po'oihe exercise planners will provide an overview of the exercise format, scenario, objectives, and lessons learned and share some insight into next year's exercise as planning has already started.
